JL Design offers expert design with CAD tools combined with CNC programming using CAM (computer aided manufacturing) for prototype projects and product development. The software I use for design includes Solidworks, one of the best parametric solid modelers. The importance of parametric, dimension-driven solid models and drawings can't be overstated when considering their contribution to the speed and accuracy of the design process.

For CNC programming I use SmartCAM, which is a highly capable CAM system for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining. My shop equipment includes a Fadal 4-axis CNC machining center and a Haas SL-10 CNC lathe. Other important equipment in the shop includes a Bridgeport mill, a Monarch 10EE precision toolroom lathe, a large bandsaw, and extensive quality control measurement tools.

I offer training classes in Solidworks and SmartCAM which are tailored to the customer's needs. Solidworks classes are typically two or three days, and give users a clear understanding of the best methods for creating part models, assemblies and drawings. Teaching the philosophy behind these programs ensures that students have a clear picture of how to create flexible, efficient models of their parts and assemblies.
